On September 16, AHP held a day-long “train the trainers” session, preparing 7 new volunteers to present the “Thinking about Housing” workshop to any group or organization in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
The workshop was written & developed by Cathy Boyle, founder of Autism Housing Pathways. Over the last year as the workshop gained popularity, Cathy spent increasing time on the road to reach locations across the region.
“It was very exciting to see the demand for the information increase, but it quickly became clear that I couldn’t keep up with the demand alone,” says Boyle.
So she announced her search for volunteers who might be willing to be trained to present on behalf of the nonprofit organization.
“I was really happy with the response,” said Boyle.
“Now we have a great group of presenters who cover all areas of Massachusetts. I couldn’t be more excited.”
The new group of presenters are now seeking and recruiting venues to provide the information, which focuses on housing models, understanding regulations, eligibility & entitlements, and a Turning 18 checklist with everything caregivers need to do to maximize their loved ones’ quality of life as they prepare for adulthood.
